A partner at Parkman & White, LLC, James W. Parkman III has over 30 years of legal experience. He provides dedicated representation to clients in Bessemer, Hoover, Mountain Brook and Birmingham, Alabama, as well as the surrounding area. Mr. Parkman focuses his practice on white collar federal criminal defense cases that involve the following matters: wire fraud, mail fraud, insurance fraud, embezzlement, tax evasion and tax fraud, price fixing, federal program fraud, public corruption, securities fraud, health care fraud, mortgage fraud, Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act charges and international crimes.
In 1974, Mr. Parkman earned a Bachelor of Science in marketing from The University of Alabama. He then attended Samford University Cumberland School of Law and graduated with a Juris Doctor in 1979.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Parkman has committed himself to advocating on behalf of his clients and their rights. His notable successes include securing an acquittal on all counts in an accounting fraud case filed against a chief executive officer of HealthSouth Corporation and successfully defending a state senator accused of money laundering, bribery and conspiracy. Mr. Parkman has received the highest possible rating of AV Preeminent* from Martindale-Hubbell, and he has an Avvo “Superb” rating. Additionally, Mr. Parkman has provided legal analysis to CNBC LLC, the Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post and FOX News Network, LLC.
An active member in the legal community, Mr. Parkman is currently serving as president of The National Trial Lawyers’ Criminal Trial Lawyers Association and he is actively involved in the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He regularly shares his knowledge as a teacher and presenter at bar association gatherings across the country on topics relating to his areas of practice.
