As a partner at Butler Viadro, LLP, James G. Butler, Jr., is dedicated to serving clients in San Francisco and Oakland, California. He also represents people throughout the Bay Area as well as in Alameda, Contra Costa and San Francisco counties. Mr. Butler focuses his practice on catastrophic personal injury, generally handling cases that involve the following: auto accidents, dangerous or defective products, elevator accidents, industrial accidents, maritime accidents, professional negligence matters and refinery accidents. He also accepts union workers' compensation litigation cases.
After receiving a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley in 1982, Mr. Butler went on to attend the University of San Francisco School of Law. From there, he earned a Juris Doctor in 1987.
For nearly 30 years, Mr. Butler has committed himself to advocating for his clients and their rights. Having been seriously injured, himself, in a hit-and-run accident as a teen, he has a personal understanding of the devastating impact that injuries resulting from the negligence and intentional actions of others can have on victims. For that reason, Mr. Butler strives to reach favorable resolutions and obtain fair compensation awards for his clients. He works closely with his clients and listens to their needs, to better serve them with the customized guidance they deserve. In recognition of his success, Mr. Butler has received the highest possible rating of AV Preeminent* from Martindale-Hubbell. He is also a certified workers' compensation specialist through The State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization.
Outside the courtroom, Mr. Butler is an active member of the legal community. He currently serves on the board of governors and as the secretary for the executive board of the California Applicants' Attorneys Association.
