John D. Winer is a founding partner of Winer, McKenna & Burritt, LLP, located in Oakland, California. Representing clients throughout the state, he divides his practice between employment law matters and personal injury litigation. Mr. Winer's employment law cases involve assisting employees who have been the victims of sexual harassment or other forms of workplace discrimination. He also represents people who have been harmed by the negligence of others in cases involving motor vehicle accidents, nursing home or therapist abuse, premises liability, construction site accidents and plane crashes.
Mr. Winer pursued his undergraduate education at the University of Florida, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies in 1976. He then went on to attend the University of San Francisco School of Law and was awarded his Juris Doctor in 1979. Admitted to practice in California, Mr. Winer co-founded his current firm in 1990. He has also been an arbitrator and mediator since 1995.
During his career, Mr. Winer has been able to obtain several substantial settlements as well as jury awards for his clients. His successful track record, as well as his high degree of ethics, have not gone unnoticed by his fellow professionals, as evidenced by his receipt of an AV Preeminent peer-review rating* through Martindale-Hubbell and a 10.0 "Superb" peer-review rating through Avvo. Mr. Winer is an active participant in several professional organizations. Since 1980, he has been a member of Consumer Attorneys of California, the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice.
