Verdicts and Settlements:

  • 1.    William Kronenberg, of Kronenberg Law, PC, 1999 Harrison St., Suite 1450, Oakland Ca. 94612 delivered a defense verdict for his client U.S. Metro Group Inc., in Haynes v Pak a traumatic brain injury case in which the Plaintiff asked the jury for an award of $100 million, and recovered $16,715,647 from the other 3 defendants. The case stemmed from a car/motorcycle collision in which the Plaintiff suffered severe diffuse axonal shear injuries resulting in an inability to walk, self-feed, talk etc. The Honorable Joseph Di Loreto- Los Angeles Superior Court sitting in Long Beach presided over the trial which began on February 18, 2014. The jury deliberated for 5 days before coming back with a verdict on March 21, 2014. The liability of Kronenberg’s client, U.S.Metro, on an agency theory was the centerpiece of the deliberations and after several notes from the jury that it had reached an impasse on the issue, the court gave further agency instructions and took the unusual step of allowing second closing arguments on the 4th day of deliberations. Plaintiff’s counsel Michael Piuze of Los Angeles who has some of the largest jury verdicts in California history and Will Kronenberg gave supplemental closings, which led to the defense verdict for Will Kronenberg’s client.   2.    William Kronenberg, of Kronenberg Law, PC, 1999 Harrison St., Suite 1450, Oakland Ca. 94612 received a verdict in a wrongful death case that was a fraction of the 30 million dollars requested by 2 sets of Plaintiff’s counsel. The Riverside Superior case of King v L.A.J. Trucking involved a big rig that made an illegal u-turn in front of an oncoming motorcycle causing the death of 43 year old John King. The trial began on March 27th 2014 before the Honorable John G. Evans in Palm Springs and the verdict was returned on April 22, 2014. Plaintiff’s counsel Michael Alder and Steve McElroy of Los Angeles and Ciro Sapetto of Indio asked for an aggregate award of $30,000,000 and after a day and ½ of deliberations the jury awarded $750,000 reduced to $525,000 for the comparative fault of King.
