Hector J. Tamayo, the founder of his own law firm, is an aggressive lawyer for his clients in San Diego, California. Able to help his clients in both English and Spanish, Mr. Tamayo focuses his legal practice primarily in the area of criminal defense, fighting for clients who have been charged with federal and state offenses such as DUI, narcotics and drug crimes, theft, domestic violence, robbery, assault and battery, sex crimes, white collar crimes, violent crimes, and other misdemeanor and felony offenses.
A graduate of Thomas Jefferson School of Law, Mr. Tamayo first completed his undergraduate degree in political science at San Diego State University. While he was still in law school, he was selected to serve as an extern for the Honorable Robert M. Takasugi, the chief justice of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. He also interned with the San Diego County Public Defender's Office.
Mr. Tamayo has obtained impressive results for his clients, winning dismissals and not-guilty verdicts as well as securing favorable pleas for clients who had been charged with domestic violence, robbery and assault. He was named one of the 2008 Top San Diego County Attorneys by the San Diego Daily Transcript, and he additionally holds a "Superb" rating from his peers through Avvo.
Always working to stay current with changes in the law, Mr. Tamayo also actively participates in a number of different professional organizations. His memberships include the Criminal Law Section of The State Bar of California and the Criminal Justice Section of the American Bar Association. He is also an active member of the San Diego La Raza Lawyers Association.
