Out of Michael J. Bidart's many accomplishments, he is particularly proud of the major impact he has had on today's healthcare system by prosecuting bad faith disputes. As senior partner of Shernoff Bidart Echeverria Bentley LLP, Mr. Bidart has extensive experience representing patients who have been harmed or ignored by insurers and HMOs. Mr. Bidart has achieved numerous successful verdicts and settlements for clients, including a landmark multi-million dollar verdict against Aetna, Inc., the largest jury verdict ever won against a health maintenance organization. He accepts cases throughout Southern California.
After receiving a Bachelor of Science from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, in 1971, Mr. Bidart earned his Juris Doctor from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1974. He is admitted to practice law in California.
An impressive track record has given Mr. Bidart numerous opportunities for leadership. He frequently lectures on bad faith insurance and HMO litigation for various prestigious associations, including the American Association for Justice, the American Conference Institute and Consumer Attorneys of California. He has been recognized as a top California lawyer in California Lawyer magazine, the National Law Journal and The American Lawyer. The Wall Street Journal has also acknowledged Mr. Bidart's considerable influence over healthcare litigation. He has the highest rating of AV Preeminent* from Martindale-Hubbell.
Mr. Bidart serves on the boards of governors for the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles and Consumer Attorneys of California. He also chairs the board of visitors for the University of La Verne College of Law, and serves on Loyola Marymount University's board of regents.
