Gloria Allred is a partner and co-founder of Allred, Maroko & Goldberg, located in Los Angeles, California. One of the country's best known attorneys, she represents plaintiffs in Los Angeles and nationwide in high-profile employment, discrimination and civil rights cases. Known for her commitment to women’s rights, Ms. Allred handles matters for clients who have suffered discrimination due to gender or sexual orientation as well as race, physical handicap or age. She has also provided representation to the victims in murder, rape and child sexual abuse cases, and her employment law practice focuses on wrongful termination and sexual harassment matters.
Ms. Allred earned her Bachelor of Arts in English with honors from the University of Pennsylvania and then went on to receive a Master of Arts in education from New York University in 1966. After teaching in public schools for several years, she then attended Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, and was awarded her Juris Doctor cum laude in 1975. Admitted to practice in California, New York and the District of Columbia, Ms. Allred is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Allred has received numerous honors and accolades from her peers. She is listed in The Best Lawyers in America* and has received an AV Preeminent** rating from Martindale-Hubbell. In addition, Ms. Allred has won three Emmy nominations for her commentaries on a Los Angeles television station and hosted a nationally syndicated television show that was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in 2012. A past recipient of The President’s Volunteer Service Award, she has published numerous articles and is frequently asked to speak before groups of fellow professionals.
