Since Jon Bryant Artz founded his law firm in 1972, the residents of Southern California have turned to the Law Offices of Jon Bryant Artz for help after drugged driving and drunk driving arrests. Today, after more than 40 years of focusing on defending clients against driving under the influence charges, Mr. Artz is one of the region's most-respected DUI defense attorneys and, perhaps, its most successful.
Mr. Artz began his career in 1972 after earning his law degree from University of California, Los Angeles, School of Law and his admission to The State Bar of California. Immediately after law school, Mr. Artz decided to make DUI defense the focus of his career. Only three years after his admission to the bar, he won a California Supreme Court reversal that made history; this win was only the first of many that would follow.
Mr. Artz' record is so impressive that it cannot go without mention. Unlike many DUI defense attorneys, Mr. Artz regularly takes DUI cases to trial, and he regularly wins at trial. In fact, in 90 percent of the cases he takes to jury trial, the verdict is not guilty. His outstanding reputation has led to a number of honors from both his clients and his peers, including a Preeminent client review rating and an AV Preeminent peer review rating* from Martindale-Hubbell, along with a "Superb" rating from Avvo.
In 2015, he received the California DUI Lawyers Association's Edward Kuwatch Award, which is an annual award presented to the attorney who has made the greatest impact on DUI defense. While he received this honor, in part, due to his many successes, it is likely that other contributions, including his service as a Judge Pro Tempore and his years spent teaching at Pepperdine University also influenced the association's decision to honor him.
*AV®, BV®, AV Preeminent® and BV Distinguished® are registered certification marks of Reed Elsevier Properties Inc., used in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell certification procedures, standards and policies. Ratings reflect the anonymous opinions of members of the bar and the judiciary. Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings fall into two categories – legal ability and general practice standards.
