The companies settled, agreeing to pay the county $3.3 billion over the course of 25 years. Mr. Calcagnie's achievements also extend into cases involving auto defects, airline accidents and defective medical devices.

After earning a Bachelor of Arts in business administration and finance from California State University, Fullerton, Mr. Calcagnie went on to receive a Juris Doctor from the Western State College of Law at Argosy University. During his time there, he served as a member of the school's law review. Today, he spends his free time with his wife and their two children.
