The founder of JML Law, aplc, located in Woodlands Hills, California, Joseph M. Lovretovich dedicates his practice to a wide range of cases representing individual plaintiffs in employment law matters, including discrimination, sexual harassment, wage disputes, contracts, wrongful discharge, severance and disability issues. He serves clients throughout the state of California.
Mr. Lovretovich received a Bachelor of Arts with honors from the University of Southern California, and in 1976, he earned his Juris Doctor from Southwestern Law School. Admitted to practice in California, he is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit and the U.S. District Courts for the Central, Eastern, Northern and Southern Districts of California.
During his more than 40 years of experience, Mr. Lovretovich has tried numerous cases, in the process securing several high-value verdicts and settlements, and helping to redefine the law in many such instances. One notable settlement was for $1.5 million in a sexual orientation discrimination case. Mr. Lovretovich has also aided in broadly expanding the definition of disability under California law, augmenting the protections for racial prejudice victims and furthering the rights of employees involved in pre-employment mandatory arbitration agreements.
Throughout his career, Mr. Lovretovich has maintained several high-profile memberships, given numerous presentations and received multiple honors. A member of the Labor and Employment Law Section of both the State Bar of California and the Los Angeles County Bar Association, he is an active participant in the California Employment Lawyers Association, the National Employment Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice. Mr. Lovretovich has given several presentations to groups of fellow professionals on a variety of topics relating to employment law, and he has also received Martindale-Hubbell's AV Preeminent* rating as well as Avvo's 10.0 "Superb" rating.
