Attorney Profile

Keith A. Gantenbein, Jr., is a consumer rights advocate and sole owner of Gantenbein Law Firm whose expertise lies in foreclosure defense and real estate.

Keith’s first two positions as an attorney were with a well-known firm representing Homeowner Associations, and then with the largest foreclosure firm in Colorado. His experience in these areas of law became the very basis of what he did not want to practice.

Mr. Gantenbein has been the subject of features and articles in the Denver Post and other publications for his work on behalf of people facing foreclosure, and he has appeared on local and national television broadcasts where he has discussed related issues, including the front page of the Denver Post and the ABA Journal. In addition, Mr. Gantenbein has done significant work to help amend foreclosure laws, testifying before the state legislature on many occasions; while busy with his practice, Keith worked extensively helping draft two important legislative bills, sponsored by Rep. Beth McCann and Senator Ulibarri, to protect Colorado homeowners. His work on those legislative bills, HB14-1130 and HB14-1295, proved fruitful as they were signed into law and took effect on Jan. 1, 2015.

Currently, Mr. Gantenbein is continuing to work extensively with the Supreme Court Rule-Making Committee to update and revise the C.R.C.P. Rule 120 in Colorado. The rule has gone through public comment and is currently set for a public hearing in November, 2016.

Mr. Gantenbein continues to advocate for judicial reform and continues to meet with legislators regarding fair laws and fair judicial processes for Colorado homeowners regarding real estate and foreclosure issues. Mr. Gantenbein recently met with city officials and gave advice regarding the foreclosure overbid proceeds process in colorado- in which overbid proceeds go to the person who lost their home in foreclosure- and why it should be illegal to allow 3rd-party persons not a party to that foreclosure to collect a percentage of these overbid process. That issue was brought to the attention of state legislators, who created House Bill 16-1090.. HB-16-1090 was signed into law by Governor Hickenlooper on 4/15/2016.

Mr. Gantenbein enjoys teaching both national and Colorado legal seminars and Continuing Legal Education classes. Mr. Gantenbein is very active with his pro-bono legal work for foreclosure and affordable housing issues.

Mr. Gantenbein has authored more than 2500 blogs and articles regarding foreclosure defense and other real estate, tax and business issues. An active participant in several professional organizations, he is a member of the American, Colorado and Denver bar associations and the Colorado Consumer Bankruptcy Association. The regard in which he is held by his fellow professionals is evidenced by his "10 out of 10" peer-review rating through Avvo.

Mr. Gantenbein has expanded his solely owned firm with five more attorneys to additionally handle Business Law, Real Estate, Tax Law, Estate Planning/Wills and Trusts.
