As one of the founders of Kaplan Morrell, LLC, attorney Michael Kaplan fights for injured people to get the workers' compensation benefits to which they are entitled and disabled people to get the Social Security benefits they deserve. He represents clients in Denver and throughout Colorado.
After graduating from the University of Michigan, Mr. Kaplan earned his law degree from the Detroit College of Law (now known as the Michigan State University College of Law). Today, Mr. Kaplan is licensed to practice in both Michigan and Colorado.
In addition to his practice, Mr. Kaplan is active in advancing the law and his profession. He has helped to draft new rules and legislation for Colorado's workers' compensation system and has served as president of the Workers' Compensation Education Association.
Mr. Kaplan's commitment to workers' compensation issues extends to the world of professional sports. He helps the Professional Hockey Players' Association, the National Football League Players Association and other sports organizations and athletes' unions with workers' compensation matters on behalf of injured players.
His experience, knowledge and professionalism have helped to make Mr. Kaplan an in-demand speaker at classes, seminars and events. He has also been honored for his hard work by government officials and professional organizations on numerous occasions. He was appointed by the governor of Colorado and other leaders to serve on workers' compensation task forces and has received awards and honors from organizations including the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. He has been selected as a fellow of the Colorado Bar Foundation, an honor that goes to less than 1 percent of active Colorado attorneys.
