Sheryl A. Edwards is the founder of Edwards Law Firm, PL, located in Sarasota, Florida. Representing clients throughout Sarasota and Manatee Counties, she focuses her practice on real estate transactions, short sales and foreclosure defense, wills, trusts and estate administration and mobile home park law. With 21 years of diverse experience, Ms. Edwards has been certified as a specialist in real estate law by the Board of Legal Specialization and Education of The Florida Bar.
After graduating in 1992 from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Science in accounting, Ms. Edwards attended Stetson University College of Law and was awarded her Juris Doctor with honors in 1995. While in law school, she served as the research editor of the Stetson Law Review. Admitted to practice law in Florida and New York, she is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit. Ms. Edwards also serves as legal counsel to the Value Adjustment Board of Sarasota County, the board that administers property tax assessment disputes.
Highly regarded by her peers, Ms. Edwards has received a 10.0 "Superb" rating from Avvo. The former chairperson of the Realtor-Attorney Joint Committee of the Sarasota County Bar Association, she has also served on the board of the Sarasota County Chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers. She remains active in the American and Sarasota County Bar Associations and the Judge John M. Scheb American Inn of Court in addition to being a member of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar. Giving generously of her time to her community, she is an officer and member of the board of Habitat for Humanity Sarasota.
