Anson H. Asbury is the founder of the Asbury Law Firm located in Atlanta, Georgia. Anson focuses his practice on federal and state tax controversies and tax litgiation. He represents taxpayers in income, estate and employment tax disputes.
Named by Georgia Trend Magazine to its 2015 Legal Elite List for his accomplishments in tax law, Anson has earned the high regard of his fellow professionals as well. He is the recipient of an AV Preeminent peer-review rating* through Martindale-Hubbell and a perfect 10.0 "Superb" peer-review rating through Avvo.
Anson is a frequent speaker on tax topics locally and nationally and has been qouted in the Washington Post, BNA Daily Tax Report, and Tax Analysts Tax Notes Today. He has written for the Journal of Accountancy, the Federal Lawyer, and the BNA Tax Management Portfolio. He is a member of the Atlanta Bar Association Tax Law Section Board of Directors, the American Inns of Court at the U.S. Tax Court, and the American Bar Association Section on Taxation Court Practice and Procedure Committee. A retired officer in the U.S. Army Reserve, Anson was a tax professor at the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School. His prior experience also includes working as a law clerk at the U.S. Tax Court as well as working with PricewaterhouseCoopers in the late 1990s.
Anson received his Bachelor of Arts from Villanova University in 1992. He was awarded his Juris Doctor in 1998 from the Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law. Anson obtained his LL.M. in taxation, graduating in 2003 with distinction from Georgetown University Law Center.
Licensed to practice in Georgia, New York, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia, Anson is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee, the U.S. Tax Court, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims and the Supreme Court of the United States.
