As founder of Dean Caras and Associates, Mr. Caras is committed to representing clients in Chicago, Illinois, and the surrounding areas. He focuses his practice on handling personal injury law cases that involve motor vehicle and trucking accidents.
In 1982, Mr. Caras earned a Bachelor of Arts in international studies from American University. He then received a Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 1985.
Suffering a motor vehicle accident can be physically painful and emotionally stressful. Understanding the unique challenges that victims of negligence face, Mr. Caras pulls together the pertinent details that build a strong lawsuit. He has decades of experience securing settlements and verdicts in his clients' favor. For example, when a railcar leaked a hazardous substance that resulted in the death of a switchman, Mr. Caras obtained a verdict of $1 million. He also reached a $5.2 million settlement on behalf of a patient who was negligently discharged from a surgery center.
For his accomplishments, Mr. Caras holds an Avvo "Excellent" rating; he has been named in The National Trial Lawyers: Top 100; he has earned the highest rating possible of AV Preeminent* from Martindale-Hubbell; and the National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys has listed him in its "Top 10."
Mr. Caras is on the board of managers for the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. He is admitted to practice before all courts in Illinois and New York, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims and the Supreme Court of the United States.
* AV Preeminent and BV Distinguished are certification marks of Reed Elsevier Properties Inc., used in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell certification procedures, standards and policies.
