Peter D. Hoste is a co-founder of Chicago, Illinois-based Leahy & Hoste. Focusing his practice exclusively on personal injury and wrongful death litigation, the matters that he handles for his area clients include medical malpractice, motor vehicle crashes, auto-pedestrian accidents and defective products.
As an undergraduate, Mr. Hoste attended Michigan State University and received a bachelor's degree in finance in 1993. He then decided to go to law school and enrolled at Loyola University Chicago School of Law, which awarded him his Juris Doctor in 1997. Admitted to practice in Illinois, Mr. Hoste is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
Mr. Hoste's excellent courtroom skills and his superb handling of negotiations with insurance companies have led to his obtaining numerous favorable settlements and jury awards on behalf of his many clients. These include a $9 million verdict in a hospital negligence case for the surviving family members of a woman who died from a blood clot in an emergency room and a $6 million settlement for the family of a pedestrian who was struck and killed by an emergency medical vehicle. Mr. Hoste has received recognition from his fellow professionals for these and other successes, including a 10.0 "Superb" peer review rating through Avvo. In 2007, he was named to Chicago Lawyer magazine's annual "40 Attorneys Under 40" list.
A member of the board of managers of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, Mr. Hoste is an active participant in a variety of other legal organizations as well. His memberships include the New Lawyers Division of the American Association for Justice, the Illinois State Bar Association and The Chicago Bar Association.
