Attorney Profile

Ms. Carder has litigated family law cases for more than a decade. While her experience includes all facets of matrimonial law, her practice is focused on the custodial needs of wealthy individuals and the complex financial issues regarding their estates and business interests.

Ms. Carder approaches every case in a straightforward manner in order to achieve the most efficient results for her clients. She recognizes that every client has unique circumstances and handles each case differently, but always with the client's goals in mind. She settles cases in a traditional or collaborative fashion when appropriate and, when not, she is always prepared to take the case to trial.

Ms. Carder received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Illinois and her Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law. She joined Schiller DuCanto & Fleck LLP in 2000 after having worked in a general practice law firm. After being with the largest matrimonial law firm in the country for 15 years, Ms. Carder launched her own family law practice.  She now offers the same quality service with a more pesronalized approach.  She is a graduate of the American Bar Association's Family Law Trial Advocacy Institute and the Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois' Training Program.  Ms. Carder draws on her expansive knowledge to help her clients navigate through the legal process and to ensure the best possible outcomes for them personally and financially after their cases are completed.

Her dedication to the law and integrity in dealing with the Courts and other attorneys has not gone unnoticed. Since 2007, Ms. Carder has consistently received the honor of being selected by her peers as a Leading Lawyer in Illinois. She has been named as one of the Top 100 Women Consumer Lawyers in Illinois. She has also been named an Illinois Rising Star and an Illinois Super Lawyer. Most notably, Ms. Carder was chosen in 2010 by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company as one of the "40 Attorneys Under 40 in Illinois to Watch".

Ms. Carder is a published author on family law issues, a regular contributor to a family law blog, and assisted in redrafting the DuPage County local court rules which govern domestic relations cases. She is a Past President of the DuPage Association of Women Lawyers and a Former Chair of the Family Law Committee for the DuPage County Bar Association.  Ms. Carder was also the Vice-Chair for the Judiciary Committee of the DuPage County Bar Association and the first Chairperson for the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit Court Committee for Improvement of Access to the Legal System.  She currently sits on the Illinois State Bar's Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Committee.  While Ms. Carder's primary practice is in DuPage County, she regularly litigates cases in Kane, Kendall and Will Counties.
