At her law firm in Gretna, Louisiana, Barbara Volk Madere represents clients throughout the area in family law matters, including divorce, domestic violence, adoption and paternity issues. Ms. Madere pursued her undergraduate studies at Molloy College in Rockville Centre, New York, and she received a bachelor’s degree in history with honors in 1974. While in college, she was active in Molloy student government, the school's forum for discussing student concerns and developing leadership skills. She moved from New York to Louisiana to attend Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and was awarded her law degree in 1978.
Admitted to practice before all of the state courts of Louisiana, Ms. Madere has developed a reputation throughout her career as a highly skilled attorney who is dedicated to protecting her clients' interests and rights. She has been certified as a specialist in family law by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization. Ms. Madere is also a trained collaborative and mediation law attorney, and she uses those skills to help people resolve disputes through alternative dispute resolution procedures short of protracted court litigation.
While her main focus is on family law matters, Ms. Madere also helps her clients to carefully plan how to pass their assets to their intended beneficiaries while minimizing federal estate taxes. She is also an active participant in the Family Law Section of the Louisiana State Bar Association.
