Michael W. Gahagan is the founder and principal attorney at The Immigration Law Firm of New Orleans. With a practice focused exclusively on immigration, Mr. Gahagan represents individuals and families in a wide variety of immigration and naturalization-related matters. He defends those who are facing deportation and assists clients with applying for and maintaining visas including finance, marriage and investor visas.
After obtaining a degree in marketing from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Mr. Gahagan earned a law degree from Barry University Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law in Orlando, Florida. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Middle Tennessee State University.
Mr. Gahagan is licensed to practice in all Louisiana state courts, the U.S. district courts for the western, middle and eastern districts of Louisiana and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit. Throughout his career, Mr. Gahagan has pursued lawsuits against federal agencies such as the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He is one of very few attorneys in Louisiana who regularly handles immigration matters in federal courts.
In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Gahagan is active in professional and community organizations. He is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Federalist Society, the National Lawyers Guild and the Rotary Club of New Orleans.
Mr. Gahagan also participates in the American Immigration Lawyers Association and serves as federal litigation chairman for the organization's midsouth region. Drawing on his business knowledge, Mr. Gahagan also advises clients on business incorporation and other professional matters and is a licensed notary.
