Rick Jaklitsch is a nationally acclaimed plaintiff personal injury lawyer who handles nothing but car, truck or train crashes. He has been honored by Super Lawyers every single year it has published rankings in both Maryland and D.C. He is listed in the Best Lawyers in America, has held the highest possible rating from Martindale-Hubbell and has been featured in the Bar Registry of Preeminent Lawyers in America (reserved for the top 1% of lawyers in the country) for 20 consecutive years, and in Who’s Who in American Law for the last 23 years. The American Trial Lawyers Association has named Rick as one of its “Top 100 Trial Lawyers” seven different years, and the National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys has repeatedly awarded Rick its prestigious “Nationally Ranked Top 10 Attorney Award.”
This year, the “Big Dogs from the Small Firm” won the Litigator of the Year Award for Personal Injury from The Trial Lawyer Board of Regents which, according to the organization is “the nation’s most coveted symbol of litigation achievement” for which nearly 1.1 million lawyers were considered.
Rick is also a member of the Ten Million Dollar Advocates Forum, called the “most prestigious group of Trial Lawyers in the United States”, as one of the “Top Trial Lawyers in America”. Rick served for many years on the Maryland’s State Bar Association’s Judicial Selection Committee, and as a Fellow of the Maryland Bar Foundation, was appointed by Maryland’s Governor to the Judicial Nominating Commission, and worked for many years on the Board of Directors of the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association.
Rick is an Honors Graduate from the University of Maryland School of Law, and earned his undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Maryland. He is Past-President of the Terrapin Club and is President of the Maryland Gridiron Network. He also co-hosted the popular radio show “Terp Talk” which was heard every Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m., on AM 1580, “The Big Talker”.
He has taken on many summer interns over the years and has mentored Maryland Association for Justice members and other young lawyers. Rick has also served for more than 35 years as a voting alumni for Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society and mentored undergraduates interested in law school or careers in the law. He has also been involved with mentoring undergraduate athletes at the University of Maryland in his role as President of the Maryland Gridiron Network, and he participates in a program that sets aside one Saturday in the off season for football players to talk to business professionals about careers and graduate school.
For 11 years he ran the Prince George’s County Bar Association’s golf tournament which raised money to grant wishes for terminally ill children.
Rick was a youth baseball coach in Annapolis for more than 10 years. He helped organize the Peninsula Athletic League’s baseball program in the late 1990’s. He also served on the Archbishop Spalding High School’s Board of Directors.
