Brian J. Mone, the president of Commonwealth Mediation and Conciliation, Inc., has mediated thousands of cases, helping people and businesses to resolve their disputes. Mr. Mone's alternative dispute resolution practice is located in Massachusetts, and he handles matters throughout the state.
Before switching his focus to mediation, Mr. Mone worked as a trial lawyer for 23 years. He received his certification as a mediator from Harvard Law School. Mr. Mone graduated with his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1978. He then attended Suffolk University Boston Law School and was awarded his Juris Doctor in 1982. Admitted to practice in Massachusetts, he is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit.
Mr. Mone's mediation practice has included numerous high-profile matters. He has handled cases involving insurance coverage in the Hurricane Katrina disaster, the case involving the collapse of the Bechtel Big Dig tunnel, the Kleen Energy gas plant explosion in Middletown, Connecticut, and the New York City Deutsche Bank Building fire, among many others. Other instances in which Mr. Mone has served as a mediator include cases involving products liability, eminent domain, toxic torts, land contamination, and a variety of business disputes.
Actively involved in the legal community, Mr. Mone is a member of several professional organizations including the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, which is a select group of attorney mediators and arbitrators who are well-regarded for the quality of their work. Mr. Mone is also a member of the American College of Civil Trial Mediators and is a life fellow of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation.
