James M. Campbell is the president of Campbell Campbell Edwards & Conroy P.C. in Boston, Massachusetts. Focusing his practice on civil litigation, he provides defense counsel to companies and individuals throughout the country and has tried more than 100 cases involving a variety of matters, including toxic torts, product liability, pharmaceutical and medical device actions, professional liability and negligence.
After graduating magna cum laude from Boston College, Mr. Campbell earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1983. Admitted to practice in Massachusetts, Florida, Maine and New Hampshire, he is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Districts of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Maine and Vermont, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 1st and 11th Circuits, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
During his career, Mr. Campbell has received several awards recognizing his abilities as an attorney. He is listed as a Leading Individual by both The Legal 500 and Chambers USA and as one of the top attorneys in the area of product liability defense by Who's Who Legal in 2011 and 2012. In recognition of his track record and ethical standards, Martindale-Hubbell has given Mr. Campbell its AV Preeminent* rating.
A co-author of a Defense Research Institute monograph pertaining to the duty to warn that is imposed upon manufacturers and sellers of certain products, Mr. Campbell is also the author of a chapter in one of that organization's publications dealing with discovery in product liability actions. His commitment to his field is further reflected in the many high offices he has held in professional organizations, including his service as president and board member of the International Association of Defense Counsel and as president of the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
