James G. Edmiston is a founding partner of the Law Firm of Edmiston & Colton. From the firm's office in Billings, Montana, he represents clients from throughout the state. During a career that has spanned more than three decades, he has developed his practice around personal injury and wrongful death litigation, focusing on cases where his clients have been injured by the negligence of others in cases involving car crashes, commercial vehicle accidents and medical malpractice. He also assists people who have been denied their rightful benefits under their employer's workers’ compensation insurance coverage.
A Montana native from the Flathead Valley, Mr. Edmiston helps people to navigate complex insurance systems. He is admitted to practice before all Montana state courts, the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Mr. Edmiston developed his work ethic early in life as an undergraduate at the University of Montana. He graduated with honors in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration. Building upon that success, he earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Montana School of Law in 1982. He became licensed to practice law the same year.
Mr. Edmiston has developed a professional network that extends throughout the state and beyond, helping him to keep up-to-date in his practice areas. He is a member of the State Bar of Montana, the American Association for Justice, the Montana Trial Lawyers Association and the Yellowstone Area Bar Association.
