Edward J. O'Donnell is a partner at Newsome O'Donnell, LLC, located in Florham Park, New Jersey. With more than 30 years of experience, he focuses on family law, representing clients throughout the state of New Jersey in matters involving divorce, child custody and visitation, child and spousal support, and property division, pursuing these issues through alternative dispute resolution as well as through litigation. Mr. O'Donnell is certified as a matrimonial law attorney by the Board on Attorney Certification appointed by the New Jersey Supreme Court.
After earning his bachelor's degree from Montclair State University, Mr. O'Donnell went on to attend Seton Hall University School of Law and was awarded his Juris Doctor in 1983. Upon graduation from law school, he served as a clerk for a judge on the New Jersey Superior Court and was subsequently a partner at a well-known New Jersey law firm before joining Newsome O'Donnell, LLC. Admitted to practice in New Jersey, Mr. O'Donnell is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
Mr. O'Donnell has earned a number of distinctions during the course of his career. He is a current member of the executive committee of the New Jersey State Bar Association Family Law Section and previously served as chair of one of its subcommittees. A current trustee and former president of the Essex County Bar Association, Mr. O'Donnell is also a member of the American Bar Association's Section of Family Law. Frequently called upon to give lectures and conduct continuing legal education seminars on various family law topics, he is highly regarded by his peers, as evidenced by the AV Preeminent* rating he has received from Martindale-Hubbell.
