Joyce A. Parisi has represented injured workers and their families throughout Bergen County, New Jersey, for 35 years as a partner in the workers' compensation firm Parisi & Gerlanc, P.A., in Hackensack. Ms. Parisi joined her father at the firm in 1978 and has since established a reputation as a leader in her field and a steadfast advocate of workers' rights and labor unions in the state. In addition to assisting clients with workers' compensation claims for work injuries, occupational diseases, repetitive stress injuries and other conditions, she handles matters pertaining to Social Security Disability and labor relations.
Ms. Parisi is a founding member of the Justice James H. Coleman, Jr. New Jersey Workers' Compensation American Inn of Court. Through her efforts and those of others, New Jersey is the only state that trains its lawyers specifically in workers' compensation law.
As a general counsel for the AFL-CIO since 1978, Ms. Parisi has fought tirelessly for workers' rights. On account of her dedicated service, she holds an AV-Preeminent* rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and she has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America** directory. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Mount Holyoke College in 1974 and her Juris Doctor from the Hofstra University School of Law in 1977. Ms. Parisi also earned an LL.M. in labor law from the New York University School of Law in 1981.
Ms. Parisi is admitted to practice in both New York and New Jersey and before the United States Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. She is a sustaining member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives who also holds membership in the American Association for Justice and the bar associations for Bergen County and New Jersey.
