Dennis M. Galvin focuses his practice on local government law and land use. As the founder of The Galvin Law Firm, located in Jackson Township, New Jersey, he handles a variety of other matters for clients throughout the state such as property tax appeals, municipal tax foreclosures, landlord-tenant disputes, business creation and acquisition, and collections and commercial litigation. Mr. Galvin is also assistant counsel to the New Jersey Planning Officials, a nonprofit organization serving planning boards and zoning boards of adjustment in the state.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Montclair State University in 1980, Mr. Galvin went on to attend Seton Hall University School of Law and was awarded his Juris Doctor in 1986. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit.

Mr. Galvin teaches zoning law and municipal land use law at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and often lectures on topics such as local government law, zoning and ethics. Additionally, he has published numerous articles on topics related to his areas of practice in publications such as Local Government Law Review, New Jersey Lawyer, New Jersey Planner and the State League of Municipalities magazine. Mr. Galvin is also a co-author of three volumes on local government law that are part of the New Jersey Practice Series.

Mr. Galvin was elected to Jackson Township's governing body in the early 1990s. He also served as first vice chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association's Local Government Section and was later named chairman. Mr. Galvin is a member of several other professional organizations, including the Middlesex County Bar Association, the Ocean County Bar Association and the New Jersey Institute of Local Government Attorneys.
