David Schwartz is a partner of New York firm Gerstman Schwartz & Wink, a comprehensive firm serving a diverse client base in corporate law, election law, real estate law and criminal defense matters. An aggressive litigator who has established a national reputation, Mr. Schwartz currently focuses on lobbying at the state level on behalf of corporations, not-for-profits, trade associations and individuals. In the past, he obtained successful outcomes for clients in high-profile civil cases and white collar, misdemeanor and federal crime cases as a trial attorney. He served as an assistant district attorney in Kings County from 1993 to 1997, leading hundreds of criminal prosecutions. Since 1997, Mr. Schwartz has been in private practice. He is regularly asked to share his legal insight as a commentator on national outlets such as Fox News, MSNBC, Headline News, WABC News and Court TV.
Outside of court, Mr. Schwartz has served many governmental and not-for-profit boards and agencies. In 2004, Governor George Pataki named him as a board member of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. In 2005, he was appointed to serve on the Board of the New York Javits Convention Center. In the following year, he was named by the New York State Senate to the Commission on Judicial Nomination.
Mr. Schwartz is licensed to practice law in the Eastern and Southern Districts of the U.S. District Court of New York, the United States Tax Court, the New York State Supreme Court, the New York City Criminal and Civil Court and the Nassau County District Court. He has also argued cases before the New York State Appellate Division and the United States Court of Appeals, and appeared pro hoc vice before the U.S. District Court in New Jersey.
