Attorney Steven R. Schlesinger is the managing partner at Jaspan Schlesinger LLP in Garden City, New York. As head of the firm's appellate and litigation practice groups, Mr. Schlesinger's practice focuses on bankruptcy, business litigation, commercial, real estate and general civil litigation matters. Mr. Schlesinger serves clients both in Garden City and throughout the entire New York City metropolitan area.
After graduating from Queens College, City University of New York, Mr. Schlesinger earned his law degree from Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University. He is admitted to practice in all New York state courts, the U.S. district courts for the southern and eastern districts of New York, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Mr. Schlesinger is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association and the American Bar Association, among other professional organizations. He has served as chairman of the Nassau County Bar Association's professional ethics committee and was appointed to the character and fitness committee of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit. He has also acted as law chairman for the Nassau County Democratic Committee.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Schlesinger has worked in a range of professional and political roles. He has served as counsel on numerous political campaigns and has written a number of articles about politics and election laws for various publications. He has also served as a director of three publicly held corporations and as special counsel to a variety of government agencies.
Mr. Schlesinger is active in various charitable organizations and is president of his synagogue. He also heads the Kermit Gitenstein Foundation, Inc., a Garden City-based charitable group.
