As a partner at Cardi & Edgar LLP, Dawn M. Cardi is dedicated to representing people in New York City and Manhattan, New York. She focuses her practice on family law and criminal defense, handling cases that include the following matters: divorce, child custody, prenuptial agreements, mortgage fraud, assault, homicide, theft, insider trading and securities fraud.
Graduating cum laude from Fordham University, Ms. Cardi earned a Bachelor of Arts. She then attended Pace Law School, where she was a member of the school’s law review, and earned her Juris Doctor.
With more than 30 years of experience, Ms. Cardi has a strong background of helping people resolve family matters as well as handling criminal cases involving both white collar and regular crimes. Before going into criminal defense, she served as an assistant attorney general in investor protection and security fraud cases. Her experience and knowledge are often sought by the media during high-profile criminal cases. In addition to speaking to students and the public in general, Ms. Cardi teaches other attorneys as a faculty member with the National Institute of Trial Advocacy.
Committed to her community, Ms. Cardi dedicates her time to several organizations, including HOPe Charity, The Brooklyn Young Mothers’ Collective and Childbirth Connection. She also provides pro bono legal services for groups such as Sanctuary for Families. Ms. Cardi is a member, and serves on committees, of the New York Women’s Bar Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. She also holds memberships with the New York County Lawyers’ Association, the New York Criminal Bar Association and the New York State Trial Lawyers Association.
