John J. Rosenberg is a co-founder of Rosenberg & Giger, based in New York City. He dedicates his practice to litigation, with a focus on disputes in the areas of entertainment, media and intellectual property rights. He also serves clients in Los Angeles and New Orleans.
After graduating with a B.A. in music with a concentration in ethnomusicology from Brown University, Mr. Rosenberg earned his law degree from Boston University School of Law in 1979, graduating summa cum laude and first in his class. He then clerked for the Honorable Levin H. Campbell of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
Mr. Rosenberg developed his litigation skills while working in the criminal division of the U.S. Department of Justice. He began in the U.S. Department of Justice Honors Program and then became an assistant U.S. attorney at the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
In private practice since 1984, Mr. Rosenberg chaired the entertainment litigation group at Sullivan & Worcester until 2007, when he co-founded Rosenberg & Giger. In addition to representing some of the best-known recording artists and performers in the music industry, Mr. Rosenberg also counts managers, producers, concert promoters, music publishers, record labels and talent agencies among his clients. In his commercial litigation practice, he represents entities and individuals engaged in a wide variety of business activities. Highly regarded by his fellow professionals, Mr. Rosenberg has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America and has received an AV Preeminent* peer-review rating through Martindale-Hubbell. He is admitted to practice before all New York and Massachusetts state courts.
