Details

Jonathan J. Wilkofsky is the founder and managing partner at the highly respected New York law firm of Wilkofsky Friedman Karel & Cummins. Mr. Wilkofsky focuses his practice on representing victims of fires, floods, hurricanes, thefts, building collapses and other disasters in first-party insurance litigation and third-party property damage claims in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. In addition, he also represents clients in cases involving the following:

• Labor law
• Medical malpractice
• Toxic tort
• Legal malpractice
• Civil rights matters

Mr. Wilkofsky began his career in 1982 after earning his law degree from New York Law School. Throughout his career, he has dedicated himself to protecting the rights of the consumer. In 1998, his push for continuing education for insurance adjusters led to a change in New York law, and he drafted legislation that Governor Pataki signed into law in 2001 that ensured greater transparency in New York property insurance policies.

In 2004, he earned an award for writing "The Law and Procedure of Insurance Appraisal," and, in addition to being an award-winning author, he is also a highly respected speaker who has lectured numerous times at New York State Bar Association events. His experience and knowledge have also led to his appointment to leadership positions, including serving as general counsel and executive director for the New York and New Jersey Public Adjusters Associations.

While Mr. Wilkofsky's accomplishments outside the courtroom are impressive, they pale in comparison to his successes in the courtroom, where he has never lost a case before a jury. He was lead counsel in a case before the New York Supreme Court that led to one of the state's largest verdicts in a property damage case, and he represented victims of both the "Monrovia Fires" and the "Hellgate" catastrophes.
