Linda Imes is a co-founder of and partner in the highly respected New York City law firm of Spears & Imes LLP. Since co-founding the firm in 2006, she has continued to build her already excellent reputation, making her the first choice of both individuals and business clients in New York, elsewhere in the United States, and internationally who face complex legal challenges in the following areas:
• White collar criminal defense• Complex civil litigation• Securities enforcement
After earning her law degree from Northwestern University School of Law and clerking for the Honorable John Gibbons on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, Ms. Imes began working in private practice in New York City in 1983. From 1985 through 1988, Ms. Imes served as a federal prosecutor in the Southern District of New York. During her career as a prosecuting attorney, she gained valuable insight into the criminal process, including methods and strategies employed by the Government to investigate, obtain convictions, and prevail on appeal. Since returning to private practice in 1989, she has been using that experience to build successful defense strategies in investigations and prosecutions.
In addition to her reputation as a skilled defender of clients under investigation, she has also earned the respect of both her clients and her peers for her trial and appellate advocacy in both federal and state appeals courts. Ms. Imes is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second and Eleventh Circuits.
