A partner at Newman Ferrara in New York, Lucas A. Ferrara has an outstanding reputation for advocating on behalf of a diverse group of clients in complex commercial and multiparty litigation. His focus primarily lies in shareholder issues, real estate, consumer fraud, products liability, civil rights and landlord-tenant disputes.
Experienced at the local, state and federal levels, he has represented condominium boards, real estate brokers, tenants, asset managers, landlords, sellers and buyers. And over the course of his thirty-year career, Mr. Ferrara has earned a number of accolades, including the highest peer rating possible of AV Preeminent* from Martindale-Hubbell and an Avvo “Superb” rating.
These honors are due in part to the unparalleled results Mr. Ferrara obtains for clients. In a trial that lasted 28 days, he secured a multimillion-dollar recovery. And for shareholders defrauded by a nationally traded company, Mr. Ferrara helped to recoup tens of millions of dollars for distribution to the victims. A published author, he has written articles for various publications, including the New York Law Journal and Newsday, and is regularly quoted in national media outlets.
He is an active member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the New York City Bar Association, and the New York County Lawyers Association.
In addition to his law practice, Mr. Ferrara serves as an adjunct professor at New York Law School and New York University School of Professional Studies, where he was the recipient of a Teaching Excellence Award. He is also an arbitrator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, where he has served as Chair on a number of major securities cases.
