Attorney Robert W. Ottinger is the founder of The Ottinger Firm. Mr. Ottinger practices employment law and represents both employers and employees in matters involving discrimination, non-compete agreements, severance, sexual harassment, wage and hour violations, wrongful termination and more. The Ottinger Firm has locations in New York, New York, and San Francisco, California.
Mr. Ottinger earned his bachelor’s degree from East Stroudsburg University and his law degree from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, California. While in law school, he served in a trial advocacy program and gained a great deal of litigation experience. Throughout his legal career, he has litigated a variety of cases dealing with civil rights, criminal and employment issues in both state and federal courts.
Mr. Ottinger’s prior legal experience includes serving as assistant attorney general at the New York State Attorney General’s Office and deputy attorney general for the State of California Department of Justice. He also spent time clerking for a judge in the Los Angeles Superior Court. Using that valuable experience as a foundation, he opened his own practice in December 1999 and worked out of his apartment in New Jersey. In 2001, he opened a new office in New York City.
Mr. Ottinger is admitted to practice in New York, California and Connecticut and is also admitted to practice in various federal courts. These include the U.S. district courts for the northern, southern and eastern districts of New York and the U.S. district courts for the northern and central districts of California, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.
