Rick Sand

As managing partner at Sand Law PLLC, Rick Sand represents clients in the state of North Dakota in matters of criminal defense, DUI defense, and personal injury. He has an Avvo “Superb” rating and worked with the North Dakota Commission on Legal Counsel for Indigents as contract counsel prior to focussing exclusively on representing private practice clients.

Mr. Sand is admitted to practice in three states: Minnesota, Arizona, and North Dakota. He is also admitted to practice before several North Dakota Federal Courts and is a member of the North Dakota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the State Bar Association of North Dakota, the State Bar of Arizona, the Maricopa County Bar Association and the American Bar Association.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science from the University of St. Thomas, Mr. Sand attended the Mitchell Hamline School of Law and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of St. Thomas. A former intern for the Office of Public Advocacy for the Alaska Department of Administration, he was an advocate for those within the Municipality of Anchorage who were accused of committing a crime and of the indigent population.

Along with his work in Alaska, Mr. Sand has dedicated a good portion of his life to serving the community and the underprivileged. A coach for the Special Olympics for the last decade, he also helped overturn wrongful convictions in Arizona as an advocate with the Arizona Justice Project. He is known throughout the legal community for his legal writing and legal research ability.
