Collin C. McKean is a partner at McKean Smith LLC. His family law practice includes divorce matters, child custody and support, domestic violence, parental relocation, LGBT issues, Alternative Reproductive Technology agreements, and matters related to military families. Mr. McKean provides trust and estate planning services and also counsel to business clients relating to transactional and choice of entity matters. Mr. McKean background in business and accounting has proven valuable when assiting clients with their complex divorce matters, estate planning matters, and business transactions.
Mr. McKean earned his Juris Doctor from Lewis & Clark Law School in 2005 after receiving both a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in 2000 from Warner Pacific College in Portland, Oregon. Admitted to practice in both Oregon and Washington, Mr. McKean has been an active participant in several professional organizations since becoming a practicing attorney including being an active member of both the Oregon sState Bar and Washington State Bar Association Family Law Sections, the American Bar Association Family Law Section, the Multnomah Bar Assocaition and the Clark County Bar Association. He serves as treasurer of the Oregon Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts and is a member of the WSBA Law Clerk Program.
Highly regarded by his fellow professionals, Mr. McKean is a Rising Star with Super Lawyers and has received a 10.0 "Superb" peer-review rating through Avvo. In 2007, the Oregon New Lawyers Division of the Oregon State Bar honored Mr. McKean with its Public Service Award, and in 2010 he received the Award of Merit from the Multnomah Bar Association Young Lawyers Section. Freely sharing his knowledge with others, he has delivered presentations on family law topics at continuing legal education programs for the American Bar Association and for the Oregon State Bar. He has also written articles for Multnomah Lawyer as well as The Young Lawyer, the publication of the Young Lawyers Division of the American Bar Association.
