Attorney Profile

As co-founder and partner at Williams Cuker Berezofsky, Gerald J. Williams is dedicated to representing people in Philadelphia as well as those throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He focuses his practice on environmental law, class actions, employment law and police litigation.

Mr. Williams received a Bachelor of Science from St. Joseph's College and a Master of Arts from the University of Pittsburgh, both in sociology. For a time, he worked in the mental health and social work fields, serving as an evaluation analyst and a director of research and evaluation. After deciding to pursue a career in law, Mr. Williams earned a Juris Doctor from the Temple University Beasley School of Law in 1982.

Today, Mr. Williams applies that experience in his practice, treating every client with compassion and respect. He understands the challenges people face when dealing with civil rights issues, environmental wrongdoing or employment problems. Advocating on his clients' behalf, Mr. Williams takes the time to gather the crucial details and build a compelling argument.

For more than 30 years, Mr. Williams has been securing favorable verdicts and settlements for his clients. His successes include providing representation in a case that led to a Pennsylvania law providing medical monitoring as an available remedy. As a testament to his achievements, Mr. Williams holds an Avvo "Excellent" rating and he has earned the highest rating possible of AV Preeminent* from Martindale-Hubbell.

Gerald Williams and two colleagues in the firm were honored at a reception hosted by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania’s Prisoner Civil Rights Panel. They were presented certificates of appreciation by the Hon. Judge M. Faith Angell for their service in representing hundreds of prisoners in claims that they were injured as a result of unconstitutional conditions of the Philadelphia Prison System. Judge Angell noted that between 2011 and 2014, the attorneys accepted judicial appointments to represent more than 900 former pro se plaintiffs and resolved the vast majority of the cases, with more than 500 resulting in individual settlements with the city and private medical providers.

A published author, Mr. Williams frequently gives lectures on legal subjects. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.

*AV Preeminent and BV Distinguished are certification marks of Reed Elsevier Properties Inc., used in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell certification procedures, standards and policies. Martindale-Hubbell is the facilitator of a peer review rating process. Ratings reflect the confidential opinions of members of the bar and the judiciary.
