Mr. Kennerly received his undergradate degree in History from Yale University and his juris doctorate from Temple University Beasley School of Law, after which he went to one of the leading plaintiff's firms in Philadelphia, where he worked for nearly a decade on everything from civil rights violations to automobile design liability to maritime accidents. He is licensed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and a member of their federal district court and appellate bars.

Over the course of Mr. Kennerly's 10-year legal career, he has earned the respect of his clients and his peers. He has an "Excellent" rating from Avvo, and he is a regularly requested guest speaker at various legal functions, including to law firm leaders at the American Bar Association and to Congressional staffers on Capitol Hill. In addition, he has written extensively about trial law, and has won the American Bar Association's "top legal blog" award every year since 2012. Scholarly Lectures and Writings:

    Verdicts and Settlements:

    • Medical malpractice involving a surgical implant. Case resolved favorably with "high-low" arbitration agreement that guaranteed clients substantial compensation. As lawsuit progressed and revealed more about surgeon's history of dangerous negligence during surgeries, the defendant doctor's privileges at the hospital were suspended, and the doctor has stopped operating. , 2016
    • Civil rights: settlement for middle school student who was tasered by a policy officer for "talking back." Police office later justified the assault by falsely claiming the middle school student was involved in a gang conspiracy. The case produced one of the few federal court opinions in Pennsylvania allowing a "Monell" claim (for a practice of repeated civil rights violations) against the city to go to a jury., 2015
    • Substantial confidential settlement for client with defective spinal implant; there was no multi-district or class action litigation for this device, and so the entire litigation was done from scratch, including all discovery and all experts. This was the only lawsuit on the product, and the product has been pulled from the market., 2015
    • Pradaxa: Represent numerous individuals who recovered confidential substantial settlements for their bleeding injuries, 2015
    • Co-counsel in a business squeeze-out case, 2012
    • Co-counsel for $20.5 million verdict in medical malpractice, Fledderman v. Glunk. Verdict affirmed on appeal in 2010, with delay damages added in addition, 2008

    Representative Clients:

    • I generally do not discuss my clients publicly. It is their case, not mine. Their lawsuits often involve one of the worst things that happened in their entire life, and I will not push them for publicity. In the case I discuss below, which I handled in the fall 2016, my client asked me to discuss it publicly to help other injured people and their lawyers.  Over the past few years, defendants and insurance companies have been trying to limit the compensation that injured people can recover by arguing that the Affordable Care Act has eliminated the need to award future medical expenses in cases involving permanent injuries. In August 2016, I achieved on behalf of my client the first federal court opinion in Pennsylvania rejecting this tactic, as well as precluding the defendants from arguing to the jury that they should not be responsible for future medical expenses. This court opinion has already been cited state-wide by other lawyers for injured people. I'm proud to have help improved the law for all injured people in Pennsylvania. , 2016

    Other Outstanding Achievements:

    • Father of three. There is no job harder than being a parent. It's easier to argue with a courtroom full of lawyers than with a single elementary school student.
