Attorney Profile

Founder and managing partner of the Pennsylvania law firm of Meyers Evans Lupetin & Unatin, L.L.C.  Jerry Meyers has focused his entire 36-year legal career exclusively on medical malpractice cases. He was the first trial lawyer in Pittsburgh to concentrate solely on medical malpractice law.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Mr. Meyers worked in hospitals for nearly a decade as a corpsman and then as a respiratory therapist. During that time, he saw countless patients harmed by medical negligence. A problem-solver who desired to make a difference in the way medicine is practiced, he went to law school and graduated with his J.D. (cum laude) from the University of Miami in 1975.

Mr. Meyers is a member of the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, the Leaders Forum of the American Association for Justice and the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County. Named in Best Lawyers in America and Who's Who in American Law, he also holds Martindale-Hubbell's AV Preeminent* rating and was selected by the American Association for Justice as one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in Pennsylvania.

Mr. Meyers has lectured at various medical schools and teaching hospitals. He also teaches at continuing legal education seminars.

*AV Preeminent and BV Distinguished are certification marks of Reed Elsevier Properties Inc., used in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell certification procedures, standards and policies. Martindale-Hubbell is the facilitator of a peer review rating process. Ratings reflect the confidential opinions of members of the bar and the judiciary. Martindale-Hubbell ratings fall into two categories: legal ability and general ethical standards.
