After earning his law degree from The University of Iowa College of Law, Thomas G. Briody became licensed to practice in Rhode Island and has been serving people in Providence for more than 25 years. At the law office of Thomas G. Briody, people who have been charged with a white collar crime, such as embezzlement, bank fraud or tax violations, receive fierce representation in both state and federal courts. Mr. Briody also advocates in cases involving sexual offenses, drug charges, arson, robbery and weapons crimes, as well as misdemeanors.
People’s rights should be protected by the legal system. When these are violated by law enforcement officers who use excessive force or arrest people unjustly, Mr. Briody has the experience needed to pursue justice and a fair judgment for his clients. To prevent false convictions and ensure accurate and objective interrogations, he has advocated for mandatory electronic recordings of these sessions.
No one should be hurt by the carelessness of another, but accidents happen every day that cost people their health, financial stability, and in some cases the life of a family member. Mr. Briody takes cases involving motor vehicle collisions, slips and falls, defective products, medical and nursing home negligence and wrongful deaths. He also represents workers whose termination is unwarranted. Many of his clients have received six- and seven-figure settlements.
In his role as a compassionate attorney, Mr. Briody gives back to the community through pro bono services, such as providing local counsel for the Innocence Protection Network.
Mr. Briody has served as president of the Rhode Island Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and as a panelist for legal education programs in the state. His writings have been published in the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers’ magazine, The Champion, as well as in state and national bar magazines.
