As a founding partner at Gillespie Sanford LLP, Jim Sanford provides dedicated legal services to clients in Dallas, Texas, and throughout the surrounding region. He focuses his practice on labor and employment law, regularly handling issues such as employment contract claims, retaliation and whistleblower claims resulting from reporting unlawful working conditions, discrimination claims based on federal and state civil rights laws, and overtime and minimum wage claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Mr. Sanford earned a Bachelor of Arts from Emory University in 1999. He then went on to receive his Juris Doctor, graduating with honors, from The University of Texas School of Law in 2005.
A certified specialist in labor and employment law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Mr. Sanford is committed to protecting the rights of workers. He has reached successful resolutions for clients at both the state and federal court levels, before various state and federal agencies, and on appeal. Mr. Sanford is admitted to the State Bar of Texas, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
Beyond his work in the courtroom, Mr. Sanford is an active member of the legal community. His association memberships include the Labor & Employment Law Section of the Dallas Bar Association, the National Employment Lawyers Association, the Texas Employment Lawyers Association and the Dallas-Fort Worth Employment Lawyers Association.
