 Ed Mallett is a founding partner with the law firm of Mallett & Saper L.L.P., located in Houston, Texas.  Mr. Mallett focuses his practice exclusively on criminal law and civil litigation with a criminal law component. In 2016, ED Mallett was inducted into the  Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association Hall of Fame.

He is Certified in criminal law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and has been recertified annually for over 25 years.

Ed is a Houston native.He graduated from Lamar High School in Houston and Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire; then returned to Texas to attend The University of Texas School of Law. He obtained his Juris Doctor in 1970,  he passed the Bar Exam and was sworn into the State Bar of Texas one day later;  and he was admitted in the State of New York in 2008.

Mr. Mallett is also admitted to practice before  the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 5th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th Circuits; all the U.S. District Courts in Texas; the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces.

Ed Mallett is active in many professional organizations. He is a Past President and a Trustee for the Foundation for Criminal Justice. He was elected by his peers and served as President of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the Harris County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. He  served on the board of directors for the Defense-Initiated Victim Outreach program.

He is a Fellow of the American Board of Criminal Lawyers.

He is a Life Member of the Houston Bar Foundation, The Texas Bar Foundation and the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Educational Institute.
