As managing member of Fernelius Simon PLLC, Stephen Fernelius focuses his commercial and environmental litigation practice in the Houston area, as well as throughout Texas. With extensive experience representing mass torts, catastrophic litigation, product liability and more, Mr. Fernelius has successfully defended many high-profile cases, and has represented more refinery and chemical plant explosion cases than most of his peers.
Mr. Fernelius graduated cum laude from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science in foreign service in 1998, and then went on to receive his Juris Doctor with honors from the University of Texas School of Law in 1991. He is admitted to practice law in Texas, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. In addition to serving on the American Bar Association, Mr. Fernelius is a member of the State Bar of Texas and is active in such groups as the International Association of Defense Counsel and the Defense Research Institute. He is also honored to be included as an associate member of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
As well as receiving a peer rating of AV-Preeminent* from Martindale-Hubbell, Mr. Fernelius has been featured in The Best Lawyers in America** from 2008 to the present. His experience makes him highly sought after for speeches and presentations regarding corporate crises and catastrophic event litigation.
Mr. Fernelius also serves as an alumni admissions interviewer for Georgetown University, is corporate counsel for the non-profit Fort Bend Education Foundation and enjoys coaching youth baseball and volunteering for the First Colony Little League in Sugar Land, Texas.
