The founding partner of The Bates Law Firm in San Antonio, Texas, attorney Harry S. Bates has devoted nearly three decades to representing plaintiffs in San Antonio, in Bexar County and throughout Southern Texas in personal injury litigation involving car accidents, truck accidents, oil field injuries, dram shop litigation and wrongful death. A robust litigator who has dedicated himself to correcting the legal wrongs that insurance companies commit against victims and providing compassionate legal assistance to those in need, Mr. Bates has secured millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements for his clients, including a $2.825 million settlement for a construction worker whose leg was amputated below the knee following an accident, a $6 million award for a motorcyclist struck by a truck and a $7.6 million verdict in a wrongful death case.

Mr. Bates obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1977 and went on to obtain his Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio in 1984. He is licensed to practice law before all Texas state courts, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Western Districts of Texas, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit.

For more than 16 years, Mr. Bates has been a specialist in personal injury law as certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and Martindale-Hubbell has honored him with its prestigious AV-Preeminent* peer review rating.
