As founder of The Bates Law Firm, he has successfully represented people who have suffered a personal injury or lost a loved one through a wrongful death incident in South Texas, including San Antonio and Corpus Christi.

In 1977, Mr. Bates received a Bachelor of Arts in business from The University of Texas at Austin. He then earned a Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law.
Today, Mr. Bates serves as a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, the American Bar Association, the San Antonio Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the American Association for Justice and the Texas Trial Lawyers Association. Furthermore, the Texas Board of Legal Specialization has certified him in personal injury trial law.
