Roy R. Barrera Jr. is an attorney at the San Antonio, Texas-based firm Nicholas and Barrera, P.C. Focusing his practice primarily on criminal law, family law, civil litigation and white collar crime cases, he provides aggressive and responsive representation to clients in the San Antonio community and throughout Bexar County. His rich experience, which includes serving as a felony and misdemeanor prosecutor before serving as a judge for the 144th State District Court in Bexar County for six years, grants him a comprehensive and versatile perspective that he brings to each case.
A Texas native, Mr. Barrera graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Mary's University in 1972 before earning his Juris Doctor from St. Mary's University School of Law in 1975. After law school, he served as an assistant criminal district attorney in Bexar County before moving on to his respective positions as a prosecutor and judge.
Mr. Barrera has been recognized for his insight and experience as an attorney as well as his contributions to the community. He was one of five "Outstanding Young Texans" as named by the Texas Jaycees, and he has also been honored with an Outstanding Young Man of San Antonio Award and a Hispanic Excellence Award.
Mr. Barrera is admitted to practice law before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit and the U.S. District Courts for the Western and Southern Districts of Texas. In addition to serving his clients, Mr. Barrera shares his insight and knowledge with other attorneys through various legal organizations. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the San Antonio Bar Association, the Texas Bar Foundation and the American Bar Foundation.
