Austin R. Jackson is the founding partner and owner of the Jackson Law Firm, PLLC, located in Tyler, Texas, and serving Smith County in East Texas. He diligently works to defend those facing criminal charges such as conspiracy, burglary, DUI and DWI, family violence and injury to a child, murder, theft, prescription fraud, reckless driving, sexual assault, cruelty to animals, probation revocations, drug crimes, weapons charges and forgery. He also handles juvenile criminal cases, appeals and writs of habeas corpus.
In addition to this versatility, Mr. Jackson is a high achiever and has continuously demonstrated his exceptional work ethic since he was a student at the Texas Tech School of Law, from which he graduated in the top third of his class in 2004. He was named Advocate of the Year the same year.
Mr. Jackson began his career as a prosecutor for the District Attorney’s Office in Gregg County, Texas, working his way up to the respected position of chief appellate attorney, representing the state of Texas in several habeas corpus petitions and other appeals. The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals sided with him on numerous occasions.
A talented and dedicated defender of his clients' rights, Mr. Jackson has crafted an effective and successful defense for over 1,000 individuals charged with misdemeanor or felony charges. During the first six months of 2010, Mr. Jackson’s appellate representation secured at least one victorious reversal each month. Some of these reversals were granted by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals; others were achieved through intermediate courts.
Mr. Jackson also offers bilingual services due to his studies at the International Law Institute in Guanajuato, Mexico, and the Spanish Language Institute in Cuernavaca, Mexico. Continually striving for excellence in his field, he dedicates ample time on a daily basis to the study of current and past legal issues in order to best help his clients in all aspects of the law.
