While he was in law school, Mr. McGuire was actively involved in the school's moot court program, and he was the regional champion for the Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition and a World Cup competitor in 1998, ranking as one of the top 25 oralists.

Following law school, Mr. McGuire worked for a number of years in California before returning to Washington state. He is admitted to practice law before all of the state courts of Washington and California, the U.S. District Courts for the Central District of California and the Western District of Washington, and the Tulalip Tribal Court.

Mr. McGuire is actively involved in a number of professional associations, maintaining a membership in the King County Bar Association, American Bar Association Family Law Section and serving as a Pro-Tempore Commissioner in the King County Superior Court.
