Attorney Profile

Tim Edwards is an accomplished litigation attorney and an adjunct lecturer at the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he has taught civil procedure, including electronic discovery, for over fifteen years. Tim is an aggressive and experienced litigation attorney who has litigated complex employment and commercial cases throughout the United States for over 15 years.  Tim provides efficient and practical litigation skills to businesses throughout the State of Wisconsin in commercial disputes, employment litigation and construction claims.  Tim keeps a sharp eye on efficiency, recognizing that clients want to achieve the best outcome in a cost-effective manner.

Tim is a pioneer in the complex, rapidly developing field of e-Discovery.  He has a sophisticated understanding of the procedures that govern the discovery of admissible information and the practical side of document retention and management, including the cost considerations that clients face in addressing these issues.  Tim’s experience and insights into document management practices enable him to craft strategies that protect and defend clients from liability exposure and reduce risk so they can grow and thrive.

Tim has a strong, and very distinguished, academic background.  In 2000, Tim returned to law school for two advanced law degrees, a Master’s in Law and a Doctor of Juridical Science, which he received with honors.  He has published many articles, including his Master's and SJD dissertations.

Tim’s unique academic background and deep practical experience gives clients the confidence that their litigation matters will be resolved in an appropriate and, where necessary, assertive fashion.

Comments

  • “Tim Edwards is the best all-around attorney that I have ever worked with. He began his career in Madison as a solo practitioner, which forced him to quickly absorb a huge and varying substantive knowledge base. He now focuses on all aspects of civil litigation, with an emphasis in employment matters. In 2009 and 2010, he was instrumental in achieving favorable settlements on behalf of the plaintiff classes in two of the largest wage-and-hour class actions in the country. He is a superb writer, and his analytical skills are excellent. He is also a well-regarded instructor at the University of Wisconsin Law School, and has done significant volunteer work on behalf of attorneys battling addiction issues. Throughout his career, he has proven himself a champion of the underdog.”
  • “Tim Edwards brings a passion to his practice that is rarely seen. His client always comes first, and he works like a mule. His argument skills are superb, and his writing is some of the best I have ever seen.”

These comments were made by fellow attorneys during the annual nomination process.
