Alyson Hood

Alyson Hood is a partner at The Bloomston Firm, a criminal defense and family law firm. She primarily handles family law cases, but she has also handled other federal and state civil litigations. Examples include cases related to contract disputes, employment law, civil rights, constitutional law and sexual harassment. Her clients are mostly from the Birmingham, Alabama, metro area.

Ms. Hood earned her J.D. at the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University. She earned several honors during her law degree. These include making it to the dean's list, becoming part of the National Order of Barristers and joining the National Team for Trial Advocacy. She also received the Senator Marc Keahey Recognition for Continued Excellence in the Practice of Law. 

The Alabama State Bar admitted Ms. Hood in 2011. She is also admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. Several professional associations have honored her with membership. These include the Alabama State Bar, Alabama Women’s Section; Birmingham Inns of Court; and the Birmingham Young Lawyers Association.

When it comes to giving back to her community, Ms. Hood is very focused on the legal community. She serves on the Alabama Women’s Section Executive Committee and is a Co-Chair for the Alabama Family Law Section. For these and other reasons, the Birmingham Business Journal named her to the Rising Stars list in 2018.
