Candis A. McGowan

Candis A. McGowan is a seasoned attorney with an extensive background in civil rights, class action litigation, employment law, and wage and hour collective actions. A member of Wiggins Childs Pantazis Fisher Goldfarb, LLC, in Birmingham, Alabama, she draws upon decades of experience to represent individuals and groups in complex legal matters, guiding clients through challenging disputes with integrity and diligence.

Ms. McGowan earned her Juris Doctor from Cumberland School of Law in 1986 after completing her undergraduate studies at Auburn University in 1983. She is admitted to practice in the state of Alabama and regularly appears before the Supreme Court of Alabama, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Alabama. Her practice also extends to the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit, where she advocates for her clients in both trial and appellate settings.

Active in numerous professional organizations, Ms. McGowan maintains memberships with the American Bar Association’s Employment section, the Alabama State Bar Employment Law Section, the Birmingham Bar Association – where she serves on various committees – and the National Employment Lawyers Association of Alabama. Her professional engagement reflects a commitment to the advancement of employment law and the broader legal community.

Throughout her career, Ms. McGowan has been recognized by her peers and leading publications for her substantial contributions to the legal profession. Honors include inclusion in the “Best Lawyers in America” across employment and labor law categories, repeated designations as “Lawyer of the Year,” and recognition among the “Top Women in the Law” by B-Metro Magazine.
